Sometime in 2003 I put my foot in my mouth while negotiating with an eyeglass retailer about their new website that I would design. They wanted to know if I would also produce the product photography. “Of course I will!” I responded naively. I didn’t even own a camera or have the slightest idea of how technical good photography actually is.
I purchased a 2 megapixel Olympus C-120 for $270 (around $470 in 2025 money). The images were good enough for online sales but enlargements were poor. I switched to 35mm film on a Nikon F80 until 2005 when I purchased a Nikon D50; and thus learned photography on a film camera.
Eventually I became a decent hobbyist photographer, and later launched a professional photography business in the heart of Hollywood focusing on the needs of the music industry. Today, I am back to photography purely as a hobby.
